Important Notes (Must Read)
 
1. Do not use in environments above 45°C!
2.  Always use a charger that supports 5V output!
3. Do not use while charging, otherwise it may overheat and catch fire.
4. The device is not waterproof and must be used in a dry environment.
5. Do not place the device in places with poor heat dissipation, such as under blankets, while in use.
6. If the device indicates that the temperature is too high, turn it off for a while before using it again.
7. The casing is made of 3D printed material; do not disassemble the casing.
8. Do not use the buttons violently (e.g., bending or pulling).
 
Frequently Asked Questions
 
1. How to wake up the device?
- Wake-up phrase: "Hello Xiaozhi" (can be changed in the background).
2. How to switch expressions?
- The method for uploading custom expression materials will be described in detail in the subsequent custom scene section.
3. How to adjust the volume?
- The volume range is 1-100, and can be automatically adjusted using voice commands such as "louder" or "softer".
4. How to reconnect to the network?
- Press and hold the BOOT button.
5. How to change the screen brightness?
- Voice commands can directly control it, such as "dimmer," "brighter," "brightness XX percent," "black mode," "white mode," allowing you to switch screen color and brightness at any time.
 
How to Use
 
I. Network Configuration
 
1. Turn on the device.
2. For the WiFi version, follow these steps to configure:
- Turn on your phone/computer's WiFi and connect to the device's hotspot named "Xiaozhi-XXXXXX".
- After a successful connection, it will automatically enter the selection interface; do not manually close it prematurely; if it does not open automatically, you can access http://192.168.4.1 through your browser to enter the device network configuration page.
- Select your home/office WiFi network (no need to manually enter the WiFi name SSID, it will be automatically filled in after selection), enter the corresponding password in the password input box, and click "Connect" to submit (passwords saved on your phone will be automatically submitted). - Note: The WiFi scanning page may take about 5 seconds to load. Please do not cancel or close the page.
3. Connect and restart the device:
- Ensure the selected WiFi supports 2.4G (for iPhone hotspots, the "Maximum Compatibility" option must be enabled), enter the password, and click "Connect".
- If the WiFi name and password are correct, the device will automatically connect and display a "Login Successful" indicator, then automatically restart after 3 seconds.
- After restarting, the device will automatically connect to the configured WiFi; if the configuration fails, please check if the WiFi name and password are correct, or try reconfiguring.
 
II. Register an Account and Bind the Device
 
1. Click the link or scan the QR code to visit the official website: https://xiaozhi.me/
2. Click "Console" and log in using your mobile phone number to receive a verification code.
3. After logging in, click "Create New Smart Agent" and customize a name for your device.
4. Click "Add Device," enter the verification code displayed on the Xiaozhi AI device screen, and click "Confirm."
5. After completing all steps, restart the Xiaozhi AI device power to start the conversation.  The above steps do not need to be repeated later.
 
III. Configure Voice, Personality Traits, etc.
 
After completing account registration and device binding, you can customize Xiaozhi's personality and voice. The steps are as follows:
 
1. Find the bound device in your account and click "Configure Role."
2. Select a voice (listening function is supported, with a wide variety of options).
3. Set the language style: If you want a specific style, such as an electronic girlfriend, you need to describe the desired conversation style and tone in detail. The AI will present the corresponding effect based on the description.
4. View conversation memory: The system will save historical chat records, and the AI can remember past conversations for a long time.
5. Select a large language model: The Qwen model has high real-time performance and no conversation delay, while the DeepSeek model is more intelligent; after making changes, click "Save," and restart the device for the changes to take effect. IV. Customizing and Uploading/Replacing Emoticon Images
 
Ensure your device is powered on and online.  Operation path: Console → Smart Device → Manage Devices → Custom Theme. The specific steps are as follows:
 
1. Hardware Configuration: Select the chip model (e.g., ESP32-S3), and set the screen width and height (must match product specifications, such as Prism 240×240, Holographic Pod 240×360).
2. Theme Design:
- Wake-up Word Configuration: Select a suitable wake-up word from the preset list.
- Font Configuration: Select a preset font size or upload a custom font library.
- Emoticon Collection: You can use the system's preset emoticon pack or upload custom emoticons (supports PNG/GIF format, GIF is recommended for dynamic images; single file ≤ 500K, a total of 21 emoticon materials are required, total size ≤ 5MB, black background materials are recommended).
- Chat Background: Black background images are recommended.
3. Effect Preview and Generation:
- After previewing the configuration effect, generate the assets.bin file (file size must be ≤ 8MB; if it exceeds this, you need to re-optimize the configuration).
- Click "Online Burn to Device" or save the bin file locally for burning. Wait for the device to restart to complete the upgrade.
